1. Day, Friday:
We are starting our wine weekend tour by picking you up at Zagreb city. We drive towards our first rural destination – Virovitica town. At the arrival, we will have a guided tour and afterward, we´ll enjoy lunch at the rustically family estate. Easy gathering and chat go with a tasting of 3 types of wines grown and made in Virovitica County Vineyards. The wine list offers several red and white wines, high quality and premium categories (chardonnay, cabernet, sauvignon, frankovka), from dry to semi-sweet for each taste.
Afterward, our travel takes us to the Baranja region. Evening check-in at Guesthouse Maksimilian situated in the very center of the old and baroque part of the city called “Tvrđa“ ( The Fortress ). Free time and night out. Since is a weekend, feel free to enjoy a wide range of restaurant offer in Osijek city. As well, the recommendation is to have dinner at Slavonska kuća where you can enjoy the local way of a night out accompanied by “tamburaši” (the musical composition of tambourines).
2. Day, Saturday:
After breakfast we will have a chilled walking tour of Osijek city. Your guide and host will take you to the Drava River, parks, city river port, St. Peter and Paul’s Cathedral and city center. You’ll go back to your accommodation through the most beautiful secession street in Croatia – the European Avenue.
After the walking tour, prepare yourself for a treat! Our first stop is the Kneževi vineyards and a tour through winery “Belje “. Winery “Belje” is the combination of tradition and modern production of the largest local winemaking. Tour via new winery part, centuries-old cellars, wine roads and the views from Baranja Hill will leave you breathless. As well, here we´ll have a chance for a tasting of 3 quality wines.
Next stop lunch at picturesque place Zamjevac. Enjoy traditional lunch and unique interior ambiance of the restaurant. In the company of your host, follows the presentation of 3 local types of wine and tasting before we go back to Osijek city.
3. Day, Sunday:
Tasty breakfast and check out. Travel takes to our last stop of unique Croatian wines. Arriving at Ilok town, the town of antiques and wines and the most eastern city in Croatia. The traditional atmosphere waits for us at Ilok Cellars. It carries the two-thousand-year-old tradition of vine cultivation and wine production of high-quality wines from local varieties planted on local vineyards. A bit of exploring, wine cellar visit and of course a bit more wine tasting. Before we drive back to Zagreb, we´ll have a traditional lunch. Upon arrival at Zagreb, we say goodbye till the next time of our wine adventure in Croatia.
