What to Expect
The tours start at Turanj Military Complex. Along with the morning coffee and chat with your tour guide, you will see the wartime exhibits at the Museum of Homeland War. Afterward, we start our off-road safari ride towards surrounding nature that will leave you breathless. Riding on a macadam road, we will pass Banovac, once rich agricultural land and now field known by tank passes in 90this.
Passing the field, we arrive at the small place called Kamensko, 7 km from the center of Karlovac. We will make a stop near river Kupa and visit the oldest Roman river port. Along the river, our ride goes downstream via the ancient Roman route.
After a light safari ride, it’s time to stretch our legs and try some of the local specialties at rural family small business. Start your rejuvenation with indigenous biscuit cake called Paglamača – a sweet truffle or, as Croatian called it ‘’gibanica’’, with cheese and apples. Then take a drink of pickled apple juice or a drop of local wine from local small wineries. If you choose to have lunch, the range of dishes is various… The homemade soup, roast meat, homegrown vegetables, homemade medallions and more options will satisfy even the most demanding gourmets. Not only that this place offers great traditional food, it has a great space of the property, hills as well as the farm with 80 goats, 2 horses, roaches, and chickens.
After all the good food, we will take a short ride towards the river Kupa where historic voyage on a boat named Zora is waiting for you. Boat ride lasts just a bit more than an hour. During the ride, you will hear about city history and legends. And only when you thought – I wish we have some snacks – on the boat, there are homegrown sweet strawberries or juicy watermelons from a rural family small business.
