1st Day, Sunday:
Arrival to Zagreb city and pick up from the airport. Afternoon Check in at the hotel (4*) in Zagreb. Short break and refreshments, you will meet with your local guide and start a 2-hour walking tour of Zagreb city. In the friendly company, we´ll explore the most interesting sights in upper and lower town. After the guided tour, it is your free time to explore the Capital and visit interesting offer of the restaurants and museums. Recommendation is to visit Museum of Illusions.
2nd Day, Monday:
After the breakfast, we will spend a day in Zagorje region – also called the green gate of Croatia. It is an oasis of preserved nature, clean air, greenery and healing thermal waters. Zagorje is the largest Croatian thermal riviera, surrounded with the true archipelago of picturesque hills.
Visiting AQUAE VIVAE Krapinske SPA. Water warmth of the Aquae Vivae Zagorje has been giving hugs since the ancient Roman times. The waterpark extends to 18,000 m2 of which 1250 m2 are water area. It has 6 swimming pools, combined outdoor and indoor with 160 water attractions, massage chairs, waterfalls and geysers, a large indoor slide and a swimming pool with waves. Enjoy full day while swimming and relaxing. Recommendation is to experience Discovery dive and/or helicopter simulation. Reservation required in advance.
Ending a SPA day at the traditional restaurant called ”Vuglec Breg”. ”Vuglec Breg” is the result of the creative and romantic vision of the Vuglec family. The Vuglec family’s aim was to convert the heritage of their ancestors into a lasting value. The estate stretches over an area of 12 hectares and from the peak of the hill, which is at about 300 metres above sea level. Enjoy a magnificent view of the surrounding hills dotted with houses, cottages and churches.
3rd Day, Tuesday:
Today, we will use the opportunity and escape from crowds by visiting Moslavina region. Only an hour and half driving from Zagreb, firstly, we will drop by the family estate for a honey snack (homegrown and eco-friendly), experiencing the tour of First bee hotel in Croatia and honey inhalation. Friendly hosts will meet you with history related story about beekeeping and preserving a sustainable and natural environment.
Continuing our day in nature via Podgarić village from where we´ll start our hiking tour. Moslavina region, in general, is a small rural area beautifully covered with agricultural fields, vineyards, and rustically houses. Among all, Moslavina hill is settled in the middle of the region. Within our hiking tour, we will walk about 4 hours through the forest, enjoying green colours and fresh air surrounding. We learn about the basics of hiking and along the way, we meet the history, legends related to this part of the untouched nature. During our hike, we will visit beautifully preserved archaeological remains such as Garić-grad, and walk to the highest peak on Moslavina hill called Humka (489 m).
After the hike, there is a well-deserved meal waiting for us at the local vinery. Recommendation is to taste a native variety of white vine that grows in the Moslavina region. Our night will be spent in Daruvar, a simple small rural town.
4th Day, Wednesday:
For all nature lovers and for the ones who will just become one, a day at Croatian first Geopark – Papuk mountain is a great way to spend a day surrounded by trees, source of drinking water and waterfalls.
Formerly the bottom of the Pannonian Sea, today a mountain of special geological sights. Geopark Papuk is interesting for visitors from Croatia and abroad because of its natural beauties and significant landscape.
Upon arrival, your tour chaperone will briefly present basic information about this Nature Park, and then we are ready for a recreational walk via the Count`s educational path. The trail is only 2,3 km long, built in the most beautiful part of the forests part of the Park, next to the mountain house, lakes and the waterfall Skakvac. After the hike, we are in for a nice refreshment lunch at the Mountain Hut and free time to relax among the scent of the greenery of this special Slavonian mountain.
Travel takes us towards Osijek city. The capital of Slavonia region. Check in at the Guesthouse Maksimilian, free time and a cosy sleep before next day of rural adventure.
5th Day, Thursday:
After the breakfast, we continue our adventure by visiting the Baranja region. Our first stop will be Nature Park Kopački rit – also called the European Amazon. It represents a unique ecological oasis and gives a view of beautiful landscapes, specific plant life, rare fauna species, and rich fishing grounds. Because of its unique position, in between two rivers Drava and Danube, most of its surface is a floodplain. Its ecological significance depends on river dynamic; therefore, the surface looks always different. Here we will have a walking tour, a bit of free time for refreshments and a sightseeing while cruising on a small boat. After the Park, we will visit wine roads. Theme of wine in Baranja is a must! Visiting the oldest vine cellar Belje, having wine tasting, and exploring the 5 Century old cellars in the middle of the region. Next stop, will be the picturesque place called Zmajevac – one of the most authentic places known for its wine preserving in “surduk”. Visiting the traditional restaurant, having local menu lunch and of course, a bit more of wine tasting. Afterward, we will go back to Osijek where you have free time to explore and night out.
6th Day, Friday:
Today, we will have a guided tour of Osijek city. Your guide and host will take you to the Drava River, parks, city river port, St. Peter and Paul’s Cathedral and city centre. You’ll go back to your accommodation through the most beautiful secession street in Croatia – the European Avenue. After the walking tour, feel free to explore traditional restaurants in Osijek. Our recommendation is Slavonska kuća restaurant. Enjoy your free afternoon and night out.
7th Day, Saturday:
As a last day of our Croatia adventure, we will visit Vukovar city. Both of the cities are destinations on the famous Donau river and carry the important historical meaning. In Vukovar, we will visit Vučedol culture museum. The Vučedol archaeological site is located on the right bank of the Danube River. The first investigations of the site date back to 1897. This attractive location was first inhabited in about 6,000 B.C. at the time of the first famers, and more or less it was inhabited intensively through the whole of prehistory. After the historical exploration and meeting with the cultural heritage of Croatia, we will have a lunch on the cruising boat. Enjoy the view of Vukovar from Donau river. After our lunch, we will drive towards Zagreb where we say good by till the next time of our rural adventure in Croatia.
